An iconic Feadship,
Olympus combines remarkable capability
with sophisticated ocean-living
Showcasing the successful Feadship / Winch collaboration and their carte blanche approach, Olympus combines artistic flair with engineering excellence fine-tuned by De Voogt naval architects, the studio behind more than half of Feadship’s global fleet. Custom-made furniture by Silverlining, original Modernist artwork, and light, distinctive soft fabrics decorate her welcoming and remarkably spacious interior.
THE
STORY
Project Claire (hull 775) was Andrew Winch’s second collaboration with Feadship, one of an elite group of truly custom superyacht builders. Every project starts with a blank page and the finished yacht is entirely individual, unlike any other yacht in the world.
Built at the now Royal Van Lent shipyard, Project Claire changed hands during construction and Andrew Winch was brought in to direct the project and realize the young owner’s yachting vision. On completion, the beautiful motor yacht Claire was sent to the Far East and renamed.
“Since her delivery in 1996, she has subsequently been sold, but the elegant interior has not been changed” - explains Winch – “At least 10 years after we delivered her, our decoration studio was asked to re-supply all the original materials for a redecoration by her owner, who was intent on leaving the design exactly as we had originally conceived it.”
In the 1990s, Feadship started to adopt more futuristic designs. The shift is evident in Olympus’ clean exterior lines created by Andrew Winch with Frits De Voogt. Her balanced proportions, including the ever-graceful Feadship bow, continue to appeal. Her modern design, enhanced by a striking palette of light “Olympus” blue and white with a touch of burgundy red, skillfully translates technical features into design elements. The final seal of approval came in 1997 when Olympus won the International Superyacht Society Award for the Best Motor Yacht over 43m.
